March Madness – Brains vs Wins 2013 [infographic]

Once the tournament starts, you can follow the online bracket for live updates here.

If Brains and Wins have anything to do with March Madness, the Blue Devils take the tournament for the second year in a row. We tallied the basketball player grad rates and win rates over the last 6 years and came up with a Student Athlete Score for each school.

The winner?

Duke University. The two highest scoring schools in the tournament were Duke and Kansas. Both have solid teams that have won a lot of games over the past 6 years, but what really pushed both to the forefront is that they have graduated 100% of their players*.

In total, 11 schools deserve mention for maintaining a 100% graduation rate for their basketball players (3 more than 2012, and 6 more than in 2011):

  1. Duke
  2. Belmont
  3. Harvard
  4. Notre Dame
  5. Kansas
  6. Villanova
  7. Western Kentucky
  8. Bucknell
  9. Davidson
  10. Illinois
  11. Pacific

Is your favorite college team well-rounded or one-dimensional? Are they student athletes or have they fouled out? Feel free to use this data to razz your rivals and promote your program.
