At DegreeSearch we love learning more than anything. Anything except sharks, that is. And what better time to learn about sharks than Shark Week? We’re pulling together some interesting finds about sharks this week. To start things off, we dug up some dirt on Tiger Sharks, the “garbage can” of the ocean. Tiger Sharks have been given this term because they’ll eat anything.

Here is a list of just a few things found inside Tiger Shark stomachs1:

• License plates
• Oil cans
• Tires
• Baseballs
• Beer bottles
• Nails
• Driver’s licenses
• Clothes
• A crocodile head
• Cats
• Pigs
• A chicken coop and chickens
• A horse’s head

These items have also been found in shark stomachs. Though not specific about which shark ate these items, the Tiger Shark is a likely culprit because of his “eat first ask questions later” attack style. 2

• Boots
• Musical instruments (guitars, harmonicas, etc)
• Tablecloth
• Bottles of wine
• A bulldog’s head
• Barrel of nails
• Fur coat
• Suit of armor
• Porcupine – Youch!
