The Cost of Dropping Out [infographic]

I found this infographic while browsing through some some recent posts on Pinterest. This particular graphic was posted by a girl I went to high school with, who now happens to be a teacher (I know what you’re thinking and no, neither of us dropped out). It does a nice job summarizing the cost of dropping out to your self, to your family, and to America.

But like many published statistics, it’s important to realize that cause and correlation are two very different things. While it’s worthy to note that 1 in 3 teen moms is a high school drop out (correlation), dropping out of school does not cause pregnancy! (Shocking, right? More info on what does cause pregnancy here.) So with that in mind… WTH America?!

    I strongly dispute the notion that dudes in Speedos cause pregnancy.  And what’s with the kid kissing his mom’s belly at a beach? Or with a leech?  Or while watching Screech.  I will not kiss it, Sam I Am.

        Dear DegreeSearch, do you have any information about what percentage of dropouts wear speedos? I’m having a hard time finding documentation of conclusive studies online.

      Ryan, you may have misread. Of course not ALL dudes in Speedos cause pregnancy, but 1 in 3 pregnancies can be traced back to Speedo strutters. Look it up. Also, if you kiss a pregnant belly your wish comes true — so you may want to rethink your hard-line position on the matter.
