According to the school, Alcorn State University is known as a campus of excellence and an academic resort. We are located on 1756 acres of scenic land in southwest Mississippi. The campus has a uniquely harmonious blend of rich, historic buildings and modern, innovative facilities.\r\n\r\nAlcorn State University has received recognition throughout the United States of America for its excellence in liberal arts, agricultural research, technology, nursing and fine arts. We also have one of the largest marching bands in the United States of America and have won numerous athletic championships in men’s and women’s sports. Our alumni have distinguished themselves in many professional arenas including medicine, law, government, education, business and entrepreneurship, research, entertainment, and professional athletics.\r\n\r\nFor more than 125 years, Alcorn State has educated leaders in the full range of professions agriculture, the arts, business, human services, education, law, politics, medicine, and nursing. An important reason for our graduates’ success: At Alcorn, students form close, collaborative relationships with faculty mentors.\r\n\r\nWhatever your major, Alcorn professors will be there for you every step of the way: as you select courses to fulfill our general education requirements in the liberal arts and sciences, as you explore possible majors, and as you complete courses in the academic field of your choice. \r\n\r\nOur two campuses – in Lorman and in Natchez – cover more than 1,700 acres. But Alcorn is an environment scaled to the individual. A look at our campuses will show you that we’re growing. A $10 million math and science building with $3 million in state-of-the-art equipment is one of the newest additions to Alcorn’s 1,700-acre Lorman campus. \r\n\r\nSucceeding at Alcorn takes hard work, commitment, and determination. But you can count on support all around you – from administrators, professors, and other students. Three out of four students live on campus, and making friends is easy. Dozens of clubs and organizations offer opportunities for getting involved, developing leadership skills, and just having fun. The supportive environment is a big factor in many student’s decision to attend Alcorn.\r\n
