Comments about Alma College:
I chose Alma college because I wanted to go to a small liberal arts school. I studied art and got involved in the theater program there my last two years as well. Though I went into the Fine Arts program having that liberal arts background definitely helped me in and out of college. I loved the small classes, I think the largest was 75 students. As an example of how great the teachers can be I had a teacher make me tea because I wasn't feeling good and she was going over something important that day and wanted me to stay.
There are two drawbacks I should mention; first, Alma is a tiny town with not much going on off of campus. However, there is enough going on ON campus to keep anyone busy. Secondly, Since Alma is a private school it is expensive. Though, during my time there they gave financial help to almost everyone in the form of scholarships or grants.
Ultimately, it was a wonderful experience!

Comments about Alma College:
Alma College provides a tremendous educational experience coupled with a close-knit academic and student community. The students often refer to this concept as being part of the "Alma Bubble." For me, it meant being provided the opportunity to get to really know my classmates and professors. Faculty went the extra mile to insure I understood the material, answered questions, and even helped me find research experiences outside the classroom.
Coming from a small high school of only a couple hundred students, Alma College helped soften the culture shock that can occur when matriculating through a large state university. The school offered many social programs designed to help students get to know each other and meet other people with common interests. Alma offers a selection of international experience so that students can learn about life beyond the bubble.
The city of Alma itself is pretty small, with limited amenities outside of the college. The city hosts the famed "Highland Festival" to celebrate Alma's Scottish heritage every summer. The larger cities of Lansing and Mount Pleasant are only about 30 miles away. Fraternities, sororities, and other student organizations provide most of the social experiences on the campus itself.
