Reasons to Attend
Comments about Careers Unlimited:
Utah College of Dental Hygiene by Careers Unlimited is a great school and it was a wonderful opportunity to attend. After completing my undergrad I was anxious to get started in the dental hygiene program. However, the waiting lists for the schools in Utah were years long, and I would not be able to get started right away like I had hoped. I had gotten word of a brand new dental hygiene school opening up the Fall of that year and made some phone calls. And to make a long story short, I began my education in dental hygiene that year. The tuition compared to other hygiene schools (for an associates in dental hygine) in the valley is almost double. But it gets you in and out of the program faster. And although I am grateful to have been accepted into that program, the road was rocky. Being the first class of a brand new program was difficult, as the school was hiring and dismissing faculty often, changing curriculum, and finding out for themselves what was working and not working at the time. I learned a lot, I feel like I have all of the information that I need to be a great dental hygienist, but I will not say that the program was at that point steady. My experience with the faculty was good. As expected with any situation, there were certain instructors I got along with, and others I did not. However, UCDH hires very elite and well educated advisors and strives for only the best for each student. I would advise any person considering UCDH for a dental hygiene school to go in with an open mind, and to just know that you probably won't get along with everyone. But what matters most is how I felt in my career after graduation. There wasn't a day that I felt inadequate, scared, or ill-prepared. I was confident, and I still feel like it was the best decision for me. UCDH is a wonderful school and opens many doors of possibilities for it's dental hygiene students. UCDH has now been in business for 7 years and is a bachelors program only. My little sister just graduated this year and has nothing but wonderful things to say as well.
