Comments about Eastern Michigan University:
Knowing that I wanted to enter the teaching profession, I jumped at the chance to attend EMU. (Lucky for me it was close to home and an easy commute!) The advisors and administrators were helpful and personable all the way, even when I changed from elementary to art education. The College of Education provides excellent teacher training, both on campus and at local schools, and encourages students to spend as much time in school classrooms as possible to be well prepared to teach. The art program is quite thorough and has incredibly talented professors and leaders with ample opportunities to show and share your work.
The main complaints I'd have are some run-down facilities (general education classrooms), and a lack of communication between the art department and College of Education. It's also largely a commuter school, so campus life was mostly focused on schoolwork, with socializing done off-campus. All in all I had a very positive experience at EMU, and entered the workforce feeling very well-prepared!
