According to the school, Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College, which is co-located with the university, offers a wide variety of graduate, bachelors, and associate degrees. The mission of FSU is to provide opportunities for individuals to achieve their professional and personal goals and discover roles for responsible citizenship that promote the common good. The mission of Pierpont C&TC is to provide opportunities for learning, training, and further education that enrich the lives of individuals and promote the economic growth of our service region and state. With a 120-acre main campus in Fairmont, West Virginia, FSU is part of the state-s growing high technology corridor, including a metro area of about 50,000 residents. The FSU main campus is within a short drive of larger cities such as Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and opportunities for outdoor recreation in West Virginia. FSU serves a 13-county region with facilities including the Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia. The main campus is home to the West Virginia Folklife Center. A recent project between Pierpont C&TC and Braxton County High School has created the nation-s first rural Early College High School, allowing students to earn a certificate or an associate degree while they are in high school. FSU offers many evening and online classes to accommodate non-traditional students. With an enrollment of 7,400 and a student/faculty ratio of 18:1, FSU values giving students the personal attention they need to succeed.
