Associate in Criminal Justice
The criminal justice and public safety fields offer many different career paths and positions. To pursue these career avenues, you need a solid education in criminal justice and a liberal arts knowledge base. Our Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice degree can help you take advantage of these career opportunities. The mission of the Kaplan Career Institute, San Antonio campus’ criminal justice program is to provide you with the opportunity to develop a strong foundation and understanding of the areas of law enforcement, courts, corrections, and security. The program prepares you to pursue further studies or seek employment in the criminal justice and public safety fields. Upon graduation, you may qualify for entry-level employment in federal, state, and local criminal justice organizations such as: police departments, law enforcement offices, juvenile correctional facilities, private sector security, and sheriff’s departments. Additional academy training may be needed for certain law enforcement jobs.
Applicants to the Criminal Justice program in the state of Texas will require additional training approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) upon graduation in order to seek the following positions: police officer, peace officer, sheriff deputy, bailiff, and jailer.
Additional police academy training may be required for law enforcement jobs.
