Marywood’s enormous array of degree programs enable students to develop fully as individuals and become tomorrow’s leaders in the arts, education, business, science, and health. As the leading provider of graduate programs in the region, Marywood University educates over 1,200 graduate students annually. \r\n\r\nIn addition, Marywood offers 24 degree and certification programs that are unique to the region, including: Architecture (B.E.D.A., B.Arch., M.Arch. degrees); Interior Architecture (M.A.) Art and Music Therapy (M.A. and M.M.T.); Get Your Master’s with the Masters (M.F.A. program specially designed for working professionals in graphic design and illustration); Ph.D. in Human Development, Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology; Early Childhood Intervention (M.S.); Public Administration (M.P.A.); Social Work (M.S.W.), Education (M.A.T.), Nutrition and Exercise Science (M.S.); Library Science Certification, Aviation Management (B.B.A.); Hospitality Management (B.B.A.); Criminal Justice (M.A.) Nutrition & Dietetics (B.S.); School Psychology (Ed.S.), Biotechnology (B.S. and M.S.); Higher Education Administration (M.S.); and Family & Consumer Sciences (B.S.).\r\n\r\nIn 2009, Marywood University established the region’s first School of Architecture. In keeping with the University’s tradition of educating students to live responsibly in an interdependent world, the Marywood University School of Architecture was created to produce a new generation of architects’environmental stewards who will assume major responsibility for the built environment of the region, the nation, and the world. Marywood’s Architecture Program is one of just a handful of Architecture programs in the U.S., providing environmental stewardship and LEED Certification as its focus.\r\n\r\nMarywood’s School of Social Work (SSW) has been a recognized leader in Social Work education since 1969, having educated more than 4,000 M.S.W. and 500 B.S.W. students. In 2010, the SSW received national recognition when it was awarded a Catholic Charities USA Centennial Medal. Graduate social work education opportunities are offered in four locations, including Marywood’s campus in Scranton, the Lehigh Valley Program at DeSales University, the Reading Program at Alvernia College, and the Central Pennsylvania Program at Bloomsburg University. \r\n\r\nThe Student Life Corridor of campus has been expanded and enhanced to meet the needs of Marywood’s growing student population. An addition to the Woodland Residences in fall 2010 has helped to accommodate the increasing numbers of resident students. Construction of a much-anticipated Aquatics Center is on target to open in the spring, with a dedication set for April 15, 2011. The construction of this facility was preceded by the addition of two new varsity teams, Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving. The Mellow Center for Athletics and Wellness, built in 2006, provides complete athletic training and workout facilities and a full-size athletic arena for hosting NCAA-level and regional sports competition. At Marywood, student-athletes can choose among 17 very competitive and successful intercollegiate NCAA Division III teams. \r\n\r\nMarywood’s commitment to its students goes beyond helping them earn a degree.
