Marywood’s Architecture Program is one of just a handful of Architecture programs in the U.S., providing environmental stewardship and LEED Certification as its focus.\r\n\r\nMarywood’s School of Social Work (SSW) has been a recognized leader in Social Work education since 1969, having educated more than 4,000 M.S.W. and 500 B.S.W. students. In 2010, the SSW received national recognition when it was awarded a Catholic Charities USA Centennial Medal. Graduate social work education opportunities are offered in four locations, including Marywood’s campus in Scranton, the Lehigh Valley Program at DeSales University, the Reading Program at Alvernia College, and the Central Pennsylvania Program at Bloomsburg University. \r\n\r\nThe Student Life Corridor of campus has been expanded and enhanced to meet the needs of Marywood’s growing student population. An addition to the Woodland Residences in fall 2010 has helped to accommodate the increasing numbers of resident students. Construction of a much-anticipated Aquatics Center is on target to open in the spring, with a dedication set for April 15, 2011. The construction of this facility was preceded by the addition of two new varsity teams, Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving. The Mellow Center for Athletics and Wellness, built in 2006, provides complete athletic training and workout facilities and a full-size athletic arena for hosting NCAA-level and regional sports competition. At Marywood, student-athletes can choose among 17 very competitive and successful intercollegiate NCAA Division III teams. \r\n\r\nMarywood’s commitment to its students goes beyond helping them earn a degree. From curriculum planning to professional accreditation to career services, Marywood University is focused on providing all students with the tools needed for long-term success. Marywood alumni become respected members of their communities, outstanding scholars, and leaders in their chosen professions.
