Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts

North Adams

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) delivers a high-quality, affordable education that provides students with the critical thinking and communication skills of greatest value to their development, their community and their future employers. As a public liberal arts college committed to preparing students for success at work and in life, that is our promise. MCLA provides unmatched, hands-on growth opportunities early, and often, in an inspiring, creative community. \r\n\r\nUnique features of an MCLA education include a low faculty-to-student ratio, where professors know their students’ names and share their dreams; collaborations with the region’s cultural venues for our fine and performing arts, visual arts and arts management degree programs; our Berkshire Hills Internship Program (B-HIP), where students get hands-on experience as arts administrators; science programs including a 3+2 pre-engineering program, an environmental studies major and athletic training; numerous study-away experiences; community service learning; a strong teacher education program and the opportunity to work with faculty on undergraduate research. \r\n\r\nThe College offers Bachelor’s degrees in 18 disciplines including business, English Communications and psychology. Recent new programs have been offered in Athletic Training and Art. In addition the Political Science and Public Policy major offer the opportunity to integrate academic study with practical, high-impact opportunities like internships and the chance to make connections with policy-makers in government agencies and through other vocational experiences. \r\n\r\nOther features include diverse on-campus residence halls, more than 40 clubs and organizations, a TV studio and radio station where students produce their own shows; and a very active Student Government Association. Division III sports range from soccer to golf. Beyond the undergraduate experience, MCLA also offers a comprehensive Master’s degree in education and recently launched a Professional Master in Business Administration. \r\n\r\nThis welcoming, caring place helps students develop the confidence to make contributions to this world as lasting as the Berkshire hills that surround us, ensuring that students earn a powerful lifelong return on their educational investment.\r\n
