The educational objective of this program is the associate of applied science degree. The vocational objective of the Business Management Program is to provide the basic business skills necessary to enter a broad range of business enterprise or entrepreneur pursuits. The course mix allows the graduate to fill numerous managerial entry level positions in business, industry and government as well as provide opportunities for promotion to those currently in the field.

Cosmetology
The cosmetology program is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/art principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated with the cosmetology industry. Miller-Motte?s advanced approached provides a simulated salon environment which enables students to develop manipulative skills and knowledge that can lead to an entry-level career in the field of Cosmetology, in hair sculpture and design, color and perming, as well as nails and skin.
Upon completion of the program, the student will beprepared to take the Tennessee State Board licensing examination. Employment opportunities may include beauty salon, spas, and other related businesses as a stylist, salon manager or owner, color specialist, skin or nail specialist, educator, platform or makeup artist, manufacturer?s representative, cosmetic salesperson, and more.

Dental Assisting
Graduates will have developed skills in a hands-on learning environment to function effectively as an integral member of the dental health team. Graduates will be prepared to function as an entry-level dental assistant and assume the responsibilities of performing chair side assisting procedures, maintaining and supplying clinical areas, scheduling patient appointments, maintaining patient charts and records, producing dental radiographs of diagnostic quality, as well as positioning and preparing patients for treatment or surgery.

Medical Assisting
The educational objective of this program is the associate of applied science degree. The vocational objective of the Medical Assisting Program is to prepare graduates to work in doctors’ offices, hospitals and other medical facilities, performing both administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of a licensed health care practitioner. Graduates are eligible to directly challenge the AAMA Certification Examination for Medical Assistants for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential. This is the only medical assisting credential that is currently recognized by the American Medical Association.

Surgical Technology
The vocational objective of the Surgical Technology Program is to prepare graduates to work as a Surgical Technologist in an operating room with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical team members. Surgical Technologists maintain asepsis in the operating room, pass instruments and sterile items and equipment to the surgeon during a procedure, maintain the sterile field, and prepare instruments, supplies and equipment before and after an operation. Graduates may be eligible for positions as Scrub Surgical Technologist, Circulating Surgical Technologist, or Second Assisting Technologist. Graduates of CAAHEP-accredited programs are eligible to sit for the national certification exam in Surgical Technology to become a Certified Surgical Technologist. (CST)
