Founded in 1886, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design is an independent, accredited institution offering a four-year curriculum integrating the Liberal Arts into 13 professional BFA degree majors in Fine Arts, Media Arts and Design; a four-year BS degree program in Visualization; two-year MFA degree programs; and a one-year Post Baccalaureate certificate program as well as an innovative Certificates in Design. MCAD is rated among the top colleges of art and design in the nation. It has more than 1,500 students participating in Continuing Studies and young artist programs. Community outreach includes gallery exhibitions on and off campus, public lectures, and the annual MCAD Art Sale.
