The location of the University also provides students and faculty with many opportunities to integrate field-based learning, research, and services with classroom instruction. Study abroad programs provide Northeastern students with a unique opportunity to spend a semester, summer, or academic year overseas while earning credit at NIEU towards graduation. NEIU is easy to get to via public transportation. Average class size is 19. NEIU is committed to providing an affordable education – we are among the most affordable of the Illinois public universities. We offer Tuition Guarantee Program that offers incoming students the same tuition rate for four years.

Comments about Northeastern Illinois University:
NIU is a great option for those that want to be close-ish to Chicago but not in Chicago. NIU has many excellent undergraduate and graduate programs and the quality of education is high. I found students to be engaged and serious about learning. Students should consider whether DeKalb is a good fit for them, but I think the proximity to Chicago is a bit plus.
