St. Cloud State University’s 16,000 students share a 137-year heritage of excellence and opportunity at our campus on the Mississippi River. Our first students came from neighboring farms and towns to learn how to teach Minnesota schoolchildren. Today’s students come from every part of the state, the country, and 92 countries of the world to prepare to excel in business, communication, health care, social services, and a wide array of fields -ncluding the education of Minnesota schoolchildren. \r\n\r\nIn an environment that values global education, civic engagement and critical thinking along with career preparation, SCSU is a comprehensive university offering 175 undergraduate and graduate programs of study. Most, including all programs in the prestigious G. R. Herberger College of Business, have exceeded the criteria for national accreditation and professional acclaim. Classes are taught by professors who have a desire to mentor as well as instruct, to impart a lifelong love of learning as well as practical knowledge and job skills. Seventy-nine percent of our faculty have attained the highest academic level for their field, the highest percentage of any of the 33 institutions in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System.\r\n\r\nRenowned for its colleges of education and business, SCSU also has popular programs in such diverse fields as mass communications and electrical engineering, psychology, meteorology and nursing. Student life is enriched by nearly 250 campus organizations, a full component of men’s and women’s athletics – including the consistently top-ranked Division I men’s Husky hockey team – and a wide variety of cultural and educational opportunities. \r\n\r\nSCSU is committed to fostering a welcoming and diverse environment for all our students. Nearly 450 of our students broaden their perspectives each year by taking advantage of the university’s study abroad programs in 12 foreign countries, and nearly 50 percent of our faculty have international teaching experience to enhance their ability to prepare all our students to succeed in today’s global society. More than 950 international students enrich campus and community academic, cultural and social activities. \r\n\r\nLiving and learning at Minnesota’s second largest university is an exhilarating, relevant and rewarding experience. \r\n\r\n
