Reasons to Attend
Comments about San Diego Mesa College:
I attended Mesa College for many years while deciding on my final major and school to transfer to for a Bachelor's degree, and had an extremely positive experience with the school.
Their Transfer Center counselors and Degree Advisors were knowledgeable and helpful, and were able to take my mish-mash of transcripts and AP credits and make them fit in to give me required credits where I needed them. Additionally, they have transfer agreements with lots of different California colleges and universities, so they can help you make sure that you are taking the right classes in the right order to be able to transfer to your college or university of choice to finish up your degree.
Another interesting/useful thing about Mesa is that it is part of the SD community college district, which comprises three different schools- Mesa, Miramar, and City college. Once you're a student of one school, you can register to take classes at any one of the three schools, so if for example you need to take biology in the morning and all the morning bio classes at Mesa are full, you can check and see if Miramar or Mesa has openings and go there for that class instead, without having to apply to the other college(s).
I took classes in a variety of subjects, and the instructors were knowledgeable and cared about their students and what they were teaching. Additionally, even though I wasn't taking honors classes, I did find that the material and way that the subjects were taught was challenging, which helped keep my interest and keep me invested in going to class and getting decent grades.
I'd definitely recommend going here for any San Diego residents, over going to Grossmont or Palomar or any of the other JC's in the area.
