Stony Brook’s many combined bachelor’s/master’s degree programs for undergraduates include several secondary teacher preparation programs as well as our Scholars for Medicine combined bachelor’s/M.D. program.Our School of Journalism offers a major in journalism and a state-of-the-art Newsroom of the Future. Students in the biomedical engineering major combine their interests in biology, chemistry, computer programming, engineering, and math. Our School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences provides opportune access to waterfront laboratories and research vessels on both the north and south shores of Long Island. Student clubs and academic advising support students heading toward careers in engineering, law, medicine, and a range of health professions. Our world-class undergraduate research program offers guidance toward research placements in all of these areas and more, wherever your interests lie. Each spring the University pays tribute to students’ accomplishments in all the arts and sciences with a day of exhibition and performance. Stony Brook has more than 300 clubs and organizations for students and offers an extensive intramural program. Students, faculty, and staff race boats made with only cardboard, duct tape, and paint in the annual Roth Pond Regatta. Other Stony Brook traditions include Homecoming and Strawberry Fest. Our Student Activities Center features a 3,000-square-foot fitness center, an international food court, student lounges, game rooms, an art gallery, and a Wellness Center with a mirrored studio for exercise classes and workshops. Across campus, the Sports Complex includes courts for basketball and squash, a running track, a dance studio, weight rooms, and a pool. Each residential quad also has its own fully equipped fitness center open 24/7. And the Division I Seawolves compete in an 8,300-seat stadium.
