Air Conditioning Refrigeration Technology
The Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration Division at TCI College of Technology is committed to the professional and personal growth of our students. HVAC/R is one of the most stable professional fields, with the employment opportunities continuously growing with new technological advancements. Trained professionals are constantly in demand. The new millennium brings forth-new challenges for commercial, industrial, residential, and domestic heating, cooling and refrigeration applications.
We develop professionals knowledgeable in the installation, maintenance and repair of climate control systems for low rise, high-rise and computerized “smart buildings”. Additionally, the curriculum includes courses in safety, design and energy management by providing a diverse educational experience that will prepare them for the ever expanding industry.

Automotive Technology
The Automotive Technology program prepares students to become automotive service technicians who maintain, repair, overhaul, and modify motor vehicles.
Courses in the major are taught at a prestigious auto service center, the Harlem Auto Mall complex, operated by Potamkin Cadillac at 127th Street and 2nd Avenue, and use state of the industry equipment. The curriculum combines theory with hands-on practice.
As part of an automotive technician’s training, students will learn to understand work orders, technical bulletins, and cost estimates and relate the information to the job at hand. They will also learn to interpret warranty policy in terms of service reports, component failures and analysis records.

Facilities Management Technology
The Facilities Maintenance Technology degree program; offers a well-rounded approach to learning building maintenance management and applied technologies for facilities management and maintenance personnel. The program integrates hands-on laboratories for HVAC/R, plumbing, electricity, major appliances and general physical plant maintenance and repair-with essential lectures on building systems, codes, estimating, personnel management, tenant relations property management and life safety, security, and fire protection systems. In addition, the graduate is prepared to obtain DEP, EPA, OSHA, and FDNY industry related certifications. The program length is 16 months or four semesters. Topics include:

Ophthalmic Dispensing
The Ophthalmic Dispensing program combines an in-depth study of optics and anatomy with dispensing knowledge and finishing skills so that graduates have the ability to provide patients with suitable, well-fitted eyeglasses or contact lenses. The program prepares the student for national certifying examinations given by the American Board of Opticianry and The National Contact Lens Examiners.
Certification and graduation establish eligibility for entrance to the New York State Professional Licensing Examination for Ophthalmic Dispensing. On-campus laboratories and dispensaries resemble those encountered in the optical industry. An on-site clinical internship provides patient contact and dispensing experience.
