UTSA is rapidly becoming a research university that continues to provide a high degree of accessibility to underserved populations, especially those of multicultural San Antonio. It has no ethnic majority but the majority of the students are in the first generation of their families to attend college. The university provides an academically supportive environment in which these first generation undergraduate students learn to do research and prepare for graduate and professional education. With over 30,000 students enrolled in 135 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, UTSA has been one of the state’s fastest-growing public universities for much of the last decade.\r\n\r\nUTSA offers 65 bachelor’s, 49 master’s and 21 doctoral degree programs, and is rapidly moving toward classification as a doctoral/research intensive institution.\r\n\r\nThe university’s three campuses provide access and opportunity for large numbers of historically underserved students. More than 57 percent of UTSA’s students come from groups underrepresented in higher education. Many students are the first in their families to attend a college or university.\r\n
