According to the school, as one of the nation’s most respected private schools, Wake Forest University is a collegiate university recognized for its outstanding academic reputation, challenging liberal arts curriculum, and personalized learning. Wake Forest further distinguishes itself through its beautiful residential campus, extensive study-abroad programs, sophisticated computing and networking technology, and Atlantic Coast Conference athletic programs. At Wake Forest, undergraduate classes are taught by full-time faculty, not graduate assistants. The student/faculty ratio is 11:1 and professors embody the teacher-scholar ideal of teaching and research. The heart of Wake Forest ‘s mission is rooted in its motto, Pro Humanitate, service to humanity. Wake Forest students, faculty and alumni understand that the mind has the power to to change the world. But, more importantly, they believe in the power of the mind and conscience to change the world for the better. A mix of dedicated faculty teacher-scholars; curious and eager students; academic, cultural, athletic and social activities exemplify a school that is small in size, but large in resources. With about 4,500 undergraduates, Wake Forest provides the intimacy and personal attention characteristic of America’s most selective private institutions. Yet, Wake Forest is a world-class university with the academic reputation and research activity found at major universities. Its graduate school of arts and sciences, along with professional schools in law, medicine, business and divinity, enrich the intellectual environment and provide resources to undergraduates, as do interdisciplinary programs in such areas as entrepreneurship. Wake Forest was selected by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to receive a $2.16 million grant to expand entrepreneurship programs, one of eight such Kauffman campuses nationwide. Wake Forest is home to the Center for Nanotechnology and Molecular Materials, which works closely with the U.S. Department of Defense and several industry leaders to transfer its work to practical applications in the areas of manufacturing and national defense. The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine is an international leader in the translation of scientific discovery into clinical therapies. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Comments about Wake Forest University:
I just celebrated my 20th class reunion at WFU. If you want a college experience with a small-town everybody-knows-you atmosphere, WFU is the school for you. And the academics are strong, too. Another plus: there's very little self-destructive drama & angst in the campus culture -- few marches, sit-ins, etc. Just students who want to learn in an atmosphere of success and respect.
Pros
- Great instructors
- Provided personal attention
Cons
- High tuition costs
- Limited degree offerings

Comments about Wake Forest University:
Wanted a school that would give personal attention and be family friendly, and WFU met that expectation. Cost is relatively high, though. Probably would not have gone without significant scholarship.
