HVAC Systems Technician
The hybrid HVAC systems technician diploma program at Dorsey College is designed to prepare students to work in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration industry. The HVAC systems technician program at Dorsey College is delivered in a hybrid format. That means you will have some of your classes online (via distance education) and other classes will be held on-ground at a Dorsey College campus. The HVAC industry offers a broad range of opportunities working in residential, commercial, construction, and industrial settings. Work typically performed includes services such as maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and/or replacement of HVAC equipment. The program also introduces the student to the environmentally friendly “green” activities of weatherization, sustainable building applications and EPA Section 608 universal certification testing. During the course of the program, students will challenge the EPA Section 608 Type 2 Certification exam, which is generally required to work in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry. Dorsey College will pay the cost one time for students in this program to challenge this certification exam, contingent upon the student meeting Dorsey College’s exam preparation requirements. Students will also participate in an externship component will allow students to incorporate knowledge acquired in the program into practical application while gaining industry experience.
