Medical Administration And Billing

The Medical Administration and Billing program at Dorsey Schools is well suited for those interested in an administrative role within the medical field. This comprehensive program is designed to train students to keep healthcare offices running smoothly and efficiently, and sets the stage for a career in medical billing with an in-depth training on the advanced medical coding systems that use CPT, ICDP-MC and HCFA terminology. As a medical biller, you can become the bridge that connects patients to their individual insurance carriers. This entails forming a comfortable relationship with patients, and more specifically, their medical information. A working relationship must also be maintained with the insurance companies themselves, as the medical biller is required to process insurance claims and other related paperwork. Tasks involved in a medical administrative career may include assisting physicians with reporting, recording medical histories, the ordering of medical supplies, and organizing and assisting patients who are to be hospitalized.

At this Michigan-based career school, you will have the opportunity to learn medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, records and database management and medical coding – all in matter of 12 months. This new career path could lead to a position in a hospital, medical office or any other healthcare-related facility. Graduates who complete this specialized training from Dorsey Schools may go on to further advancement in the medical field, by way of becoming a certified Medical Biller. For those who wish to earn their certification, Dorsey Schools will pay the cost one time for graduates of this program to challenge a certification exam as selected by Dorsey Schools, contingent upon the graduate meeting Dorsey Schools exam preparation requirements, which vary by program.
