M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction

Licensed K-12 educators can build and implement curricula to become instructional leaders at the classroom, school, district or state level. The Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction degree includes coursework, research and in-classroom field experiences that emphasize a scholar/practitioner approach to curriculum development, delivery of material and assessment of learning. Teacher licensure or one (1) year of documented full-time teaching experience is required for this curriculum and instruction degree program, which does not lead to licensure but can lead to career advancement. Opportunities are provided for you to apply concepts, theories and research throughout the program. Assignments within each course ultimately guide you through 90 hours of in-classroom observational and practice-based experiences. You must have access to a K-12 school classroom to complete the capstone course and graduate from the degree program.
