Le Moyne College is a Catholic, Jesuit institution offering comprehensive programs rooted in the liberal arts and sciences. Built on a rich 450-year-old Jesuit history of academic excellence, Le Moyne seeks to nurture the “whole person.” Its values-centered education prepares students for leadership and service by integrating community-based experiences with academic programs. This tradition – that intellectual effort can and should lead to action – helps students discover their place in life and applies knowledge toward making a difference. One of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States, Le Moyne’s inclusive learning offers 32 majors and more than 40 programs in the arts, humanities, sciences, business and education. \r\n\r\nA teaching-centered College, Le Moyne provides a variety of multi-disciplinary research opportunities through internships and seminars. Le Moyne’s undergraduate enrollment of 2,300 supports small classes with a student-to-teacher ratio of 13:1, a size that fosters a sense of community evident in its First-Year Residential Learning Communities. Here, groups of students attend classes together and live in the same residence halls. They participate in social and cultural events as well as community service activities. All of these experiences closely integrate a student’s academic and social life. \r\n\r\nIn remaining connected to the world at large, the College’s Center for Peace and Global Studies allows students to link the educational process with ethics, values and globalization. Students and faculty take part in forums that spark debate on political and social issues.\r\n\r\nFor students who want a more concentrated academic program, the Integral Honors Program confers upon its graduates the highest degree Le Moyne offers. This challenging program requires seniors to complete a final honors project in collaboration with a faculty advisor.\r\n\r\nLe Moyne’s outstanding programs are enhanced by its picturesque 160-acre campus. A state-of-the-art performing arts center and recreation center are places for students to relax and socialize. In addition, the recreation center houses a competition size pool, jogging track, tennis, volleyball and racquetball courts, and a fitness center. A member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Le Moyne fields a total of 16 intercollegiate teams. The men’s baseball and women’s lacrosse teams are NCAA Division I and the College’s 14 other intercollegiate teams are NCAA Division II and compete in the Northeast-10 Athletic Conference. In 2007, 2006 and 2004, the men’s lacrosse team captured the NCAA Division II title. In 2003, Le Moyne was honored with the USA Today/NCAA Academic Achievement Award, signifying the highest freshman graduation rate among nearly 300 Division II colleges and universities. \r\n\r\nBeyond the academic and social campus offerings, students at Le Moyne find its Central New York location a major attraction. Close to major cities such as New York, Toronto, Montreal and Boston, students take advantage of that proximity by attending Broadway plays, sightseeing and shopping. The abundance of lush country is evident in the numerous state parks and lakes, which offer additional recreational fun. And if that’s not enough, Le Moyne has more than 70 clubs and organizations for students. \r\n\r\nWith Le Moyne’s strong academic and community setting, students connect on all levels – local, regional and global. Le Moyne’s personal approach supports students in a rapidly changing world by developing their skills to meet future challenges and excel in both their personal and professional lives.
