Medical Assistant Technician Diploma
The Medical Assistant Technician Diploma Program is designed to prepare students in obtaining entry-level employment as a medical assistant technician. This program offers students the opportunity to learn the necessary knowledge and skills both in the classroom and in a supervised clinical practice or capstone. The students learn how to prepare patients for various technical examinations such as EKGs and phlebotomy, as well as how to perform several such procedures. Students are eligible for certification in: National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Certification, First Aid Certification, and BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
A total of 720/760 contact hours is required and divided into 220 lecture hours, 420/500 lab hours, 120 externship hours, and 47 quarter credits. Employment opportunities Clinical Assistant, Lab Technician, Optometric Assistant, and Registered Medical Assistant

In a dual language approach, all materials and resources will be provided in English, and selected resources, lessons, and interactions will be permitted in Spanish (first language). Students must have adequate mastery of their first language. All standardized testing, competencies, or end-of-program projects must be completed in English while enrolled in a Dual Language program. Students must complete all required courses in the bilingual Medical Assistant Technician program, transfer of credits will not be accepted. Certification Exam and Externship at the end of the program are only available in English.
