Our university consistently receives national recognition for its outstanding programs, whether it is genomic research in soybeans in the College of Agricultural Sciences, with its 2,000 acre farms; advanced friction studies in the College of Engineering; teacher preparation and the School of Social Work in the College of Education and Human Services; or ecology and nanomaterials science in the College of Science.\r\n\r\nOur undergraduates take advantage of extensive research opportunities, which is rare among major universities. Programs include the Research Enriched Academic Challenge, Saluki Research Rookies, McNair Scholars Program, the Illinois Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, and Undergraduate Assistantships, which provide students with paraprofessional experience in their chosen fields.\r\n\r\nSIUC students earn well-deserved national recognition for their commitment to creating new knowledge, including selection to Posters on the Hill in Washington, D.C., and to USA Today’s All-USA College Academic Team.
