Founded in 1971 as part of the State University of New York, and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Empire State College was expressly designed to meet the needs of adult learners. Our mission: Empire State College is dedicated to enabling motivated adults, regardless of geography or life circumstance, to manage and master a rigorous academic program and earn a degree. With 35 statewide locations and a Center for Distance Learning, Empire State College works with you to find the best way to earn your undergraduate degree. Students can learn through guided independent study, distance learning, study groups and cross registration; and earn credit for life long learning. Each location provides personal attention, the opportunity to design individual degree programs, and varied means of earning credit through a customized curriculum.
