The University of North Texas, with more than 36,000 students, is the leading university of the Dallas-Fort Worth region and the state’s fourth largest. Listed as a doctoral/research university-extensive, UNT is ranked in the top 4 percent of U.S. colleges and universities by the Carnegie Foundation. The university has many nationally ranked programs among its 93 bachelor’s, 111 master’s and 50 doctoral degree programs. UNT has a 18:1 student-faculty ratio and attracts students from every state. Founded in Denton in 1890, UNT also has a growing Dallas Campus that will one day become the first public university within the Dallas city limits.
