VanderCook College of Music has been a leader in the field of music education, specifically the practical preparation of the school music teacher, since 1909. Our institution is solely devoted to the career preparation of band, choir, and orchestra directors as well as general music teachers. \r\n\r\nFor students beginning their career, VanderCook offers a bachelor of music education degree; for certified teachers, a master of music education degree; and for musicians who have earned a music degree in an area other than music education, a master of music education and certification program. In addition, VanderCook has an extensive continuing education program consistently ranked as one of the top three in the country.\r\n\r\nIn addition to free performances on campus and at local events, VanderCook has initiated partnerships with local elementary and high schools that are unable to offer music programs, and created outreach programs to serve the general public outside of the formal classroom environment.
