Western State College students are further away from home on average than students at any other public college or university in the United States.\r\n\r\nWestern State College offers one of only four undergraduate Professional Land and Resource Management Programs in the U.S.\r\n\r\nWestern State College is located just 30 miles from a premier ski resort – Crested Butte Mountain Resort, birthplace of the Winter X Games.\r\n\r\nWestern State College has one of only four known undergraduate Petroleum Geology specialties in North America. Labs for this program rival any found in the exploration industry.\r\n\r\nWestern has undertaken major campus renovations, and is continuing that process. As of Fall 2010, the three most recently renovated buildings met either silver or gold LEEDS certification standards for energy efficiency. This is in keeping with the college’s philosophy of environmental and energy awareness.
