According to the school, as a highly contemporary liberal arts institution located in the northern panhandle of West Virginia, Bethany College has a rich heritage of outstanding scholarship and a long history of excellence in the arts and sciences. Founded in 1840 and affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the College places particular emphasis on leadership and incorporates pre-professional education.
