Comments about Golden West College:
Golden West College was a great place to get my feet wet after I finished high school. The transition was particularly difficult for me as my high school experience was marred by taunts and teasing from classmates over an assault I sustained while in high school. A protective order was in place and Golden West College was completely accommodating, even more so when the actual offender showed up at the college.
My counselor was absolutely wonderful and was a great source of information anytime I needed to come and chat. Although athletics are not a major part of this community college, I was able to partake in a tennis class which was great fun.
Having worked in education since I can remember, I was pursuing my teaching credential. However, towards the end of my time there, I was frustrated with some of the class offerings. The instructors were not the most knowledgeable and engaging and I was frankly turned off to the program. I changed classes and took on-camera broadcasting and script writing classes that fostered a love for media that has continued since then. Later, I attended Fresno State as a Mass Communication & Journalism student specializing in Electronic Media, which I would have not pursued had I not been inspired at Golden West.
