Comments about Lone Star College System:
Because this is a junior community college, it offers associate, applied, and technical degrees. I chose this college because it offers fantastic medical programs in Radiology, Physical Therapy, EMT, and an accelerated RN level Nursing degree in 2 years instead of 4. I am amazed at the quality of the instructors I have had thus far, many of the biology and anatomy instructors have previously taught pre-med courses in larger universities. I feel as if I am getting top-notch education for a bargain basement price! Once my Nursing degree is complete, I will only have spent [$]. Not bad for a job that pays $50-$60k a year in Texas!

- Affordable tuition
Cons

Comments about Lone Star College System:
Lone Star College has amazingly low tuition rates and a number of convenient campuses around Houston. The facilities are nice and I understand some of the specialty programs (like the Nursing school are excellent) but my experience was that the instructors ranged from average to poor. Classes are relatively small which helps but because of the small classroom size, popular classes fill up very quickly and less popular classes tend to not make the minimum number of enrolled students so they are cancelled. The admissions/registration department is adequate but the online system can be unreliable.
With that said, the hourly tuition is a fraction of the cost of a state university. So I can't complain too much about the quality of instructors. The school has agreements with a number of Texas state universities and the credits you earn at Lone Star will transfer to any of the partner schools or the University Center (upper level campus) where you can earn a degree from one of the partner schools without ever having to pay the higher tuition rates or set foot on their campus. All-in-all Lone Star represents an excellent value.
