Since its founding in 1898, Northeastern has emphasized real-world understanding as a key component of the academic enterprise. We integrate innovative academics with our signature cooperative education program and other kinds of experiential learning, such as clinicals, research, study abroad, and internships. This multidimensional learning environment makes a Northeastern education like no other. The integration of course work and experience develops students’ critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills while introducing them to new perspectives in their fields. As a result, our undergraduates and graduates of our doctoral, masters, law, and professional degree programs, are better prepared for the lives they choose. The University offers ample financial aid to students seeking the benefits of a Northeastern education, through a combination of need-based aid and merit scholarships for undergraduates; and assistantships and stipends for students in academic and professional graduate programs.

Comments about Northeastern University:
The school is in a collegiate environment. Boston holds some of America's best schools, and Northeastern University (NEU) is certainly one of them.
Admission to NEU is highly selective. NEU is the MOST applied to private school in the United States multiple years running. Due to the high number of applications, the overall admission rate has dropped, and the school's standardized score rise every year (now higher than rivals BC and BU).
If you have heard about NEU, then you know about the Cooperative Education program. The six-month internships, known as "coops", are probably the best resource you gain out of your time here. The school well positions you to a great career afterwards and actually allows you to figure out what you want to do. Also, it is good to mention that you can work internationally too! Additionally, the quality of classes, professors, and overall academic environment is first-rate. They do have many well known faculty and visiting professors. Most professors you'll find teach at multiple Boston schools (NEU, Harvard, BC, BU, Tufts...).
I would say the best thing about the school besides the program is its campus and environment. NEU is centrally located in Boston, and the campus truly feels like a college campus. NEU has modern architecture, great facilities (The Marino Center and Matthew's Arena!), and gorgeous green quads. Dorms, dining halls, and gyms are top quality (it's where your big tuition bill goes). In addition, NEU is a very entrepreneurial campus. The combination of the school's academics and coop program helps create this environment. Northeastern has some very well known entrepreneurial alumni including founder of Napster (Sean Fanning) and founders of EMC Corporation (Richard Egan and Roger Marino).
Some cons to the school… The reputation is still growing. Not known as much outside the Northeast, but those who know it have high remarks for it (rankings have improved and climb the polls year after year). Alumni need to support the school. Give back and speak more about it! Rising tuition costs too! This seems to be more nationwide problem though. Additionally, the sports program is lacking. NEU lost its football program, and the hockey program needs to win a Beanpot! They do surprise you though; 9-2 win against unbeaten at home, #2 ranked Notre Dame (2011/12 season).
I enjoyed my time at NEU. I had friends who went to other Boston schools and enjoyed their time. Overall, great city, great school, great program, and great memories! Go Huskies!
