The University of New Hampshire is nationally recognized for the quality of the academic experience it provides to its students. A land, sea, and space grant university, UNH retains the look and feel of a New England liberal arts college with an internationally recognized faculty dedicated to undergraduate teaching. Within its seven schools, the university spans all fields of study and unites them through interdisciplinary programs, labs, farms, theatres, research centers and libraries Special programs include a particularly strong undergraduate research program, honors program, and a wide range of opportunities for internships, service learning, study abroad, and national exchange experiences. \r\n\r\n.UNH students have been learning by doing since the University’s inception in 1866. In all fields of study, students find multiple opportunities to apply what they learn in the classroom to the practical challenges of the real world— from placements at the renowned UNH Crimes Against Children Research Center to refurbishing hospital equipment for developing countries.\r\n \r\nHousing the divisions of humanities, fine arts, social sciences and education, the College of Liberal Arts is the heart and soul of UNH. It hosts the exploration of art, history, politics, psychology, religion, literature, journalism, world languages and culture-in short, the study of the many facets of what it means to be human. \r\n\r\nThe recent renovation of Kingsbury Hall, home of the College of Engineering and Physical Science, has expanded student project space with new labs for manufacturing, advanced sensing technology, and more. Plentiful state-of-the-art space is available for students to work on their moon buggies, mini-Baja vehicles, pollution prevention projects, cancer detection molecules and other marvels of science and engineering. \r\n\r\nThe Whittimore School of Business and Economics is one of the nation’s top undergraduate business programs. The School blends leading-edge coursework with extraordinary hands-on-learning opportunities in high-visibility companies throughout the region. \r\n\r\nMore than 75% of students in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture work side-by-side with faculty mentors on projects that range from farming fish on the open ocean, to probing the molecular basis of heart disease, to managing a live dairy herd. Extensive research that begins on the ocean and along the coast, in the mountains and marshes and on the farm is brought back for study in the school’s high-tech labs. \r\n\r\nStudents in every academic major within the College of Health and Human Services must undertake at least one fieldwork or internship experience before graduation. Many have the opportunity to do considerably more.\r\n\r\nThe university is ideally located only minutes away from the New Hampshire seacoast and an hour’s drive from Boston, Portland, and ski and recreational areas.
