I reluctantly transferred to Weber from Utah State after getting married and moving to Ogden. I was a die-hard Aggie, but decided to swallow my pride and try it out. What I found was a great university, and getting better by the year. I was especially impressed with the art department. The instructors were great, class sizes were small, and we worked on relevant projects. I've taken a lot of what I learned into my career, and feel that they really care about what the students are learning and how those skills will be applied.
As a non-traditional student (over 25, married, etc) they catered to my needs offering a non-trad center, flexible graduation options, and good counseling.
The university is constantly evolving. The campus itself always seems to be building or remodeling, and the curriculum is always being updated.
As far as cons though, I can't think of too many. Some of the instruction in the TBE department seemed a little dated. If you're looking for a party school, this probably isn't it. Most people commute, with very little campus living.
All in all though, WSU offers a solid education and I would pit it right up with Utah's other state universities.

I chose to attend Weber State primarily because of its location. It was close to home and had course offerings in Layton and Ogden. They also offered night classes at some of the high schools where I live and online classes as well. This made it convenient for me to obtain the classes I needed at times that worked with my schedule. I was not a traditional student. I was married and working full time while I attended classes. Access to campus or instruction centers was my first criteria.
I also chose Weber because of the cost. I was able to obtain a quality education and get the coveted piece of paper without the loads of debt. I have had no trouble getting jobs since college and I have found that where you attend college doesn't really matter. Weber is an accredited University and employers view it as such.
If I had one suggestion or complaint about Weber is that they and many other University's do not do enough to educate their students on real life. What I mean by that is, there are no courses designed to teach students financial and business 101. I was a communications major with a business minor and I left wanting more but unable to get what I needed to have a basic understanding how the world works. Specifically I think every student should be taught: personal finance, how the stock markets work, how to invest in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc. How mortgages and real estate work. What you need to do to start your own business regardless of what it is. How to reduce risk in your life ie. life insurance (and types of life insurance), long and short term disability insurance, health care, living wills, etc. I think if these things were taught, people would leave having a better understanding about life and would be better prepared to enter the world knowing what lies ahead.
That being said, Weber is a good school and its fairly cost effective. I highly recommend it to gain your well rounded college education.

Comments about Weber State University:
Weber State has been a second home for me. And I choose the term 'home' because WSU goes beyond what your typical University offers. The faculty is top-notch, it has a slew of degree offerings and it has a convenient Online program which has been the perfect fit for me and my family.
Working full-time with 4 children, having an effective on-line program has been essential for me to accomplish my educational goals. About 90% of my college career has been on-line and I can't say enough about how it has been the perfect medium for me.
Of the times that I find myself having to be on-campus, it is always a pleasant, convenient experience. The campus is a beautiful, yet intimate place, and it has all of the necessities that the larger companies have, without the busy atmosphere the larger Universities carry with them.
I would recommend Weber State University to anyone in a heart beat! It has been a wonderful experience for me, and I will cherish the time I spent there.

Comments about Weber State University:
I chose Weber State University because it was close to home. It was easy to get a job on campus (or near by) and still attend my classes. I was happy with education I received and the price of tuition; but I hated the financial aid office and their advisory staff.
I got my degree in Accounting and there were several GREAT professors. Two that I would completely stay away from but all of the others were fantastic. Not only did they know your name all while attending school, but 4 years after graduating they still knew my name. They took personal time to help with any homework and even gave out their HOME PHONE NUMBERS to contact if you ever needed help. I loved the Accounting program and their advisory staff. I loved how easy the classes fit into my schedule and how quickly I was able to obtain my degree. The professors taught real life applications, not just abstract things from a book that college students don't understand because they lack the real work experience. The school of business in general was very helpful and out-weighed the negative from the financial aid office.
The financial aid office sucked in my opinion. No one in my family had ever attended college. I stepped foot onto the campus and went to the main building to get information to register. I had to go back 5 different times bringing different paperwork with me because they did not tell me EVERYTHING I needed. I am a very organized person and had I been given a list of stuff to bring with me I would have only had to make two trips. It was very frustrating; not to mention the front staff is not the most pleasant to work with. I am sure they are sick of the same questions but maybe if they actually told students everything they needed to do to complete the process; they too wouldn't get so frustrated. And the bookstore is a rip off :), buy your text books online.
Overall, I loved Weber. It gave me the education I wanted, for a fair price, with great instructors who cared.

Comments about Weber State University:
I went to Weber State after going two years to a junior college that I loved. I played soccer in school, and got to tour a few campuses, and see different programs.
Weber showed me the radiologic program when I went on my recruiting trip, and I liked the cardiac sonography (echo) program. Weber State was the only school in Utah that offered the program. They set me up to shadow someone in the field,I loved it, and so I decided to go there.
I enjoyed my time at Weber State. I found very affordable housing just off campus, and walked to school. The school worked very well with the athletic department, and I never felt like I had to choose to excel in either athletics or academics, but that I could excel in both.
The program prepared me very well for my echocardiography boards that I took and passed on the first attempt. I got my first job out of school at UCLA medical center, and stayed there for 4 years, before moving back to Utah.

Comments about Weber State University:
I selected this school after I had taken care of all of my generals. Weber took all class credits from other schools so I was ready to dive into my major. I was an Art Major and the class sizes were much smaller than other schools I looked at in Utah. Their Mac computer lab was packed with powerful computers and all sorts of small and large scale printers. The Art building was brand new and I liked that as well. There was work going on on other buildings as well. This told me they cared about their school and liked to keep things up to date.
Once I got going and into the program I was very impressed with the level of attention each student got. You got one on one class time with the professors and could easily reach them outside of the class room if you needed.
Finding financial aid was also very important to me and I found it easily. During my three years at Weber I never paid for a single semester. They have all sorts of things you can do to help pay for tuition. Some of the things I did was work for the school doing what they were teaching me in my major. They didn't pay me but they waived my tuition for a year. I also got some of my work into some of their Art shows and some of my pieces won. That got me more tuition money. If your major isn't art I'm sure there are other similar things going on in other departments to help out.
The school activities were quite lame and not to many people showed up. I stopped going to them after a bit as well. However, Ogden is a great city and there are lots of things to do. Outdoor recreation is huge. My favorite was taking a snowboarding class. Snow boarding every Friday for two months and getting class credit for it was wonderful.
All in all if social life at school isn't your top priority I would definitely say head to Weber State.

Comments about Weber State University:
I chose Weber State University for two very specific reasons:
1. They offered more online and evening classes for non-traditional students than any other state university.
2. They were one of only two schools in the state (at the time) offering my degree - Construction Management.
The combination of these two factors was truly the clincher for me, as the other school with a CM program was a day program only (and triple the tuition), making it virtually impossible to work in the construction industry while attending the program.
I cannot think of a better university for non-traditional students than Weber State. The variety and flexibility of course offerings & times makes it overwhelmingly accessible for working professionals and traditional students alike.
Weber is constantly expanding programs and facilities, with satellite locations in most Northern Utah communities. When you consider the relatively low tuition coupled with the high quality instruction, there just isn't a better value out there.
I would rate the quality of the education at Weber very high - particularly in the upper division courses. I compete with, work with, and hire professionals who graduated from more 'prestigious' universities, and my experience has been that, in general, Weber Grads are far-better prepared for real-world situations than those from other universities.
The only con - and it was minor - was that I felt some of the lower-division course instructors were either not experienced enough in the course they were teaching, or if they had sufficient experience they were not experienced enough in teaching it. That was rare, and it was not much of a factor for highly-motivated students, but it was there nonetheless.
All told, I am extremely satisfied with my experience at Weber State and would recommend it to anyone.

I really enjoyed my time at WSU. I enjoyed it so much that I came back in order to do my Masters Degree. I received 3 degrees from that University and made trips out from SLC just to attend. Their education program is amazing! You get alot of individual attention and you can tell that they care.
