According to the school, growing from Bridgewater’s mission to educate the whole person, The Personal Development Portfolio (PDP) Program provides a coherent framework for students to critically and holistically reflect on their overall development within the context of the liberal arts experience, to better see the connections within the curriculum as well as the between the curriculum and the co-curriculum, and to do so comprehensively throughout their entire four years. Through course instruction, conversations with designated faculty, reflective writing assignments, and the construction of a culminating portfolio, students demonstrate the skill of critical reflection in all dimensions of their lives (dimensions such as intellectual growth and discovery, citizenship and community responsibility, ethical and spiritual growth, and emotional maturation and physical health), their knowledge of the key concepts and values underlying the liberal arts, and the ability to integrate their discrete experiences in a coherent and comprehensive way.
