Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU), founded in 1895 by the Congregation of Divine Providence, is a coeducational liberal arts and sciences institution that offers pre-professional and professional programs to approximately 2,700 students. With a student to faculty ratio of 13:1, students are ensured a\r\npersonalized education with individual attention and small classes.\r\nFederally designated as a “Hispanic Serving Institution,” OLLU has the highest percentage of Hispanic enrollment at both the undergraduate (70 percent) and graduate (54 percent) levels of all Catholic universities in the country. OLLU also has the second highest percentage of Hispanic students by\r\nCarnegie Classification. In addition, OLLU is among the top 50 public and private universities nationwide to award master’s degrees to Hispanics. OLLU is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of College and Schools to award baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral\r\ndegrees. \r\nThe University offers 33 bachelor’s degree programs, 14 master’s degree programs and two doctoral degree programs through weekday, weekend, and online formats. OLLU features quality programs in the arts and sciences, business, computer information systems and security, communication and learning disorders, education, leadership studies, psychology and social work. Academic programs are offered through the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business and Leadership, the School of Professional Studies and the Worden School of Social Service.\r\nMeaningful internships and service opportunities are hallmarks of the OLLU experience. Every OLLU undergraduate student completes service-learning classes within his or her major. All students have the opportunity to earn Biliterate Certification as a minor, demonstrating reading, writing, and speaking\r\nmastery of Spanish in their chosen fields. The University maintains the Community Counseling Service Center and the Harry Jersig Speech and Hearing Clinic to serve city residents while providing students\r\nvaluable clinical experience working with real clients.\r\nOLLU’s psychology and social work programs have been recognized nationally for their expertise in Hispanic families and Spanish-speaking populations. Its Center for Cyber Security is one of only two in\r\nSan Antonio certified by the National Security Agency. Through OLLU’s Center for Science and Mathematics Education, more than 500 educators have received continuing education training and certification in the past 12 years. They, in turn, have taught science and math courses to more than\r\n200,000 students in the region during that period.\r\nOLLU is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The University fields men’s and women’s basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer and tennis teams and women’s softball and volleyball teams.
