Prairie View A&M University, located 45 miles northwest of Houston, TX, is a historically black university (HBCU) dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and service. As the second oldest public institution of higher education in the state, PVAMU serves a diverse ethnic and socioeconomic population. Designated an ‘institution of the first class’ by the Texas Constitution (1984) the university is committed to preparing both undergraduate and graduate students in a range of careers, including but not limited to nursing, engineering, architecture, criminal justice, agriculture, and education.
