Ramapo College of New Jersey is sometimes mistaken for a private college. This is, in part, due to its unique interdisciplinary academic structure, its size of around 6,000 students, and its pastoral setting. Ramapo offer bachelor’s degrees in the arts, business, humanities, social sciences and the sciences, master’s degrees in nursing, educational technology, sustainability studies, and liberal arts, as well as professional studies including teacher certification, project management, and social work. Ramapo has articulation programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels in the health and medical fields. Ramapo offers these joint programs in partnership with the University of Medicine and Dentistry (UMDNJ), New York Chiropractic College, the State University of New York (SUNY), New York University College of Dentistry, and New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Ramapo boasts an average student faculty ratio of 18 to 1. The average class size of 23 affords students the opportunity to develop close ties to Ramapo’s exceptional faculty, of whom approx. 95 percent hold terminal degrees in their field. In May 2010, Ramapo was re-accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Ramapo recently earned accreditation from the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Ramapo has repeatedly been recognized by many college-ranking organizations for it’s high standings in the Carnegie-classification of Public Master’s Colleges and Universities (medium programs).
