Alfred State College is located in the beautiful Southern Tier, surrounded by lakes, ponds, wetlands, and state parks. Alfred is a vibrant community with a permanent population of approximately 2,000 residents and nearly 6,000 students enrolled in three colleges. It is 15 miles north of the Pennsylvania border, 75 miles south of Rochester, and 90 miles southeast of Buffalo. The college enrolls approximately 3,500 students annually. There are some 275 teaching faculty and professional staff supporting the College’s more than 70 programs in agriculture, allied health, business, and engineering technologies, liberal arts and sciences, and 18 programs in applied technology. What sets us apart is our hands-on education and strong sense of community. Our student to faculty ratio is 20:1 so you are sure to get individual attention-small class size is our strength. It’s why professors can get to know you, demanding only your best from you. The courses integrate real world experience through projects and internships. An ideal Alfred State student is one who likes to learn by doing. Our students begin their core curriculum coursework their first day on campus. This is why employers say that our students ‘Hit the ground running…’ after completing an education at Alfred State College.
