According to the school, The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), the State Historically Black 1890 Land-Grant Institution, is a teaching, research, and doctoral institution that nurtures and launches leaders in a student-centered environment.\r\n\r\nIts unique programs in the University System of Maryland include Aviation Science, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Professional Golf Management, Physician Assistant, Professional Practice Doctorate of Physical Therapy and Doctorate of Pharmacy degree. It is the first Historically Black Institution in the nation to offer a bachelor’s degree in Professional Golf Management that is accredited by the Professional Golfers’ Association of America.
