Established in 1894, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is a comprehensive regional university with 8,800 students. The four colleges of letters and science, fine arts and communication, natural resources, and professional studies, provide a broad foundation of liberal studies and offer over 100 program choices within 50 majors and 16 graduate programs. The picturesque campus includes 30 buildings, three student centers and the 275-acre Schmeeckle Nature Reserve. UWSP is known regionally, nationally, and internationally for its programs in natural resources, life science, performing arts, and wellness. UWSP provides a supportive campus environment where students thrive academically, socially and personally and have high quality relationships with fellow students, faculty and administrators. The mentoring of students begins at orientation, continues throughout their university careers, and culminates with successful career placement. U.S. News & World Report ranked UWSP seventh among approximately sixty Midwestern public universities that grant master’s degrees in America’s Best Colleges 2007. UWSP’s vision for the future includes providing challenging learning and leadership experiences that prepare students to be global citizens. Currently ranked 16th nationally among universities whose students study abroad, the goal is to increase participation in study abroad and international internships to 30% of the student population.
